Sikkim Snowfall: Sikkim covered in snow, heavy rain in Darjeeling Kalimpong

Sikkim covered in snow. Closed tourist entry to several important tourist spots in Sikkim.

Several tourist spots including Nathula, Baba Mandir are under ice. There has been a complete ban on the travel of tourists.

A total curfew has been imposed since Thursday as Changu Lake, Nathula, Baba Mandir area is covered in snow.

Despite the snow in Sikkim, it is currently disappointing the tourists. Because everything from Nathula to Changu in the tour plan is missing.

At the same time, cluster guidelines have been issued for places of interest, including MG Marg in Sikkim’s capital city Gangtok, around the visit of the G20 delegation.

As a result, the tourists have to stay in a kind of hotel. Many tourists are coming down from Sikkim to Darjeeling because of the danger. The army is carrying out the rescue operation of the tourists who were stuck in the Changu area in the west of Sikkim due to continuous snowfall.

On Wednesday night, thousands of tourists were rescued from high places like Sikkim’s tourist favorite Tasmanglek, Nathula on an army emergency basis and brought to safe army camps.

According to the Army, the Jaharlal Nehru Road, which connects West Sikkim with Sikkim city, has been covered by shara paat and the communication has been cut off.

More than 200 tourist vehicles were also recovered. Most of the land in Sikkim is covered with white snow. Meanwhile, the Gangtok Meteorological Division of the Indian Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of snowfall and rain in some places of Sikkim in the next few hours.

Chance of snow and rain in Gangtok, Payong, Namchi. According to the Meteorological Department report, 01.2 mm in Gangtok and 000.5 mm of rainfall in 12 hours in Tadong part of Sikkim. Apart from this, there have been reports of rain in Darjeeling and Kalimpong since noon in North Bengal.

According to the report of Hawa Mahal, the amount of rainfall is 0.4mm. It rained continuously for 15 minutes in Kalimpong. Darjeeling receives rainfall at several places bordering Sikkim.

Sandakphu, Manbhanjan, Falut areas of Darjeeling received heavy rainfall. According to Hawa Mahal’s report, the highest temperature in Kalimpong was 17 degrees Celsius that day.
